No Excuses

She's tried every diet and claims nothing worked.

He's started many businesses but says he's always had bad luck.

He's tried to quit smoking more times than he can count but eventually falls back on the habit.

She says she's unhappy at her job but no letter of resignation has been drafted.

He said he'll go to gym 3 times a week this year but has only gone twice this month.

She said she'll start waking up early but keep hitting the snooze button until around 7.

We say so many things.

We set so many goals.

We write so many resolutions.

How many stick?

Hardly any.

Asked why, we have a ready excuse to defend our actions, or lack of.

It wasn't the right time.

Something came up.

I was just out of luck.

Bad weather.

I slept late.

My mother came over.

I'm too tired.

I'm too busy.

Gosh darn.

The next time we fail at something, let's at least own up to it. And then seek to find the real culprit behind the defeat.

Because we can do anything we want to do, be or achieve. The fact that there are other people on this planet doing it means you can too. What they lack though, are excuses. They failed too in the beginning. But they didn't cough up an excuse and left it at that.

They dug deep.

They figured out why. They hunted down the reasons within instead of the easy route of blaming something in their external circumstances. They explored childhood insecurities, triggers for bad habits, limiting beliefs and worked on them.

Excuses are easy.

Excuses are common.

Excuses never get you anywhere.

If you want to change something about you, your future, the world - first face the obstacles that lie within you.

Kill the weeds before planting the flowers.
